The artwork is horizontal format painting. Eugene-Alexis Girardet depicted people with camels and donkeys who are crossing the lake or river. It seems the caravan is travelling a lot and people looks like tired. Their only wish are rest, water and meal. The caravan is protected by the armed man who is showing a direction.
